So far it seems as if Mt. Greenwood’s success will never stop growing. After only 3 years since its first 2004 Team, the Club is having their best year yet. With multiple championships in different divisions, and still growing, the future of Mt. Greenwood continues to look bright. This year, Mt Greenwood’s 2004, 2006 and 2008 teams participated in the Fire Cup at Toyota Park, home of the Chicago Fire. All MGSC teams won 1st place within their age group categories.
Also, 2008 and 2007 Girls Teams won their Summer Tournaments undefeated.
In the next year, Mt. Greenwood’s inclusivity expanded and a first Girls Team was brought to existence. It was a team revolving for the 2006 age group.
Almost a year later, in the summer of 2016, Mt. Greenwood began to be acknowledged around the Chicagoland. The team was not only a group of friends having fun; but also a group of friends learning to be competitive and fair. At this point, Mt. Greenwood had grown from two teams to multiple teams ranging from Little League to High School ages.
After only a few months, the team had already began growing. More kids’ interest flourished and a 2009 Team was beginning to develop. Mt. Greenwood was starting to become a family.
On March 16, 2015, Diogenes Diaz founded Mt. Greenwood Soccer Club. A team meant to mentor and lead children on the basics, amusement and teamwork that comes with soccer.
3 years ago, Mt Greenwood SC began with a 2004 Team. Their first participation was in the LDE League.
